Nikon Low Light Shooting

Shooting with Nikon D850 and D3300 DSLR cams. They work great outdoors in bright light, but struggle with autofocus and graininess indoors under low lighting conditions. Anybody have any adivse, input, suggestions for how to make the shots better?
